Brewery Duvel Moortgat was founded in 1871 as 'Brouwerij Moortgat' in Breendonk. Managed by 4 family generations and by strategically obtaining distribution rights and international acquisitions, Duvel Moortgat evolved towards a global player.
Next to the company's most renowned brand 'Duvel', Duvel Moortgat also produces a.o. 'Vedett', 'Maredsous',
'La Chouffe', 'De Koninck', 'Liefmans', 'Ommegang', 'Boulevard', 'Firestone Walker' and 'Bernard'. The latter are most popular in US and Czech Republic.
Between 2009 and 2013 Duvel Moortgat was listed on the Euronext Brussels stock exchange.

Logistics feasibility study
At the time of the study:
Duvel Moortgat's organic growth and recent acquisitions and collaboration initiatives put its DC in Puurs (B) under operational pressure. In order to support further growth and to improve the cost efficiency of the intralogistics processes, Duvel Moortgat asks to perform a logistics feasibility study.
Objectives
Engineer an optimized logistics concept and investigate the related feasibility taking into account following requirements:
- extension of storage capacity according to growth projection;
- building regulations for optional new plot;
- seamless integration of VAS;
- improvement of receiving and putaway process;
- improvement of picking strategy.
Result
A concept design based on a multideep automated highbay warehouse and optional automated truck loading system combined with a lowbay warehouse for traditional storage of uglies. The designed solution was elaborated and demonstrated a strong business case.
