Logistics concept study for the reorganization of logistics processes and synchronisation with production

At the time of the study:

An increase in production volume troubles the existing logistics processes and the synchronisation with production units.

Additionally Solvay was confronted with following challenges:

  • low fulfillment accuracy (OTIF);
  • functional restrictions in existing MES system;
  • little to no transparancy in order status.

Objectives

  • Design an optimized logistics concept which alleviates existing bottlenecks.
  • Which investments are required and what is the influence on the operational expenses?
  • How can we introduce more transparancy on the order status?

Result

  • Optimized logistics concept with clear ROI and PP;
  • Proposals for operational improvements, ready to implement (low hanging fruit);
  • User and technical requirements for MES-WMS applications.
