Reynaers Aluminium is a major European specialist in the development and implemention of aluminium applications used for the construction of windows, doors, facade systems, sunscreens and porches. Reynaers was established in 1965 and employs 2200 people in 40 countries to date. Reynaers exports to more than 70 countries in 5 continents. The company with headquarters in Duffel reached a turnover of 537 milion euro in 2018.
At the time of the study:
The site in Duffel has been expanding rapidly in the recent years. The buildings on site accomodate administrative functions, production and logistics functions. The logistics functions include loading and unloading bays, storage of long goods and storage of accessories. The storage capacity starts reaching its maximum. Further extension is needed. Reynaers Aluminium therefore requests to investigate the feasibility and the operational impact of an automated highbay concept.
Investigate the feasibility of an automated warehouse. More specifically following questions need to be answered:
The study resulted in two positive alternatives. An automated warehouse for brute halfshells. It finds its location at the front side of the plot, close to the production.
At the rear end of the site, an automated warehouse for finished profiles is the best
choice to optimise the remaining space on the site.
